Publishing the revised version of A Bilingual Code of Korean Labor Law (2015) |

Preface
It is very meaningful that we are publishing this revised version of A Bilingual Code of Korean Labor Law on this, the 10th anniversary of KangNam Labor Law Firm (Registration No. 157 with the Ministry of Employment & Labor), which was established in May 2005. KangNam Labor Law Firm has focused on foreign-invested companies and expatriate professionals, providing experienced advice on labor law for HR departments. Our publications include:
• Korean Labor Law Bible (bilingual; 5th edition to be released in 2015): a systematic look at Korean labor law;
• Korean Labor Law: Disputes & Resolutions (bilingual; 3rd edition published in 2014): a collection of labor cases represented successfully by KangNam Labor Law Firm for our clients;
• “Labor Cases” (30 issues since Spring 2008): a bilingual 1,500-copy quarterly magazine distributed to foreign-invested companies free of charge.
The Ministry of Employment & Labor translated all Korean labor laws into English four or five years ago but has not updated them since. Using these old translations was impossible as many of the laws have been significantly revised and new ones introduced. Our business as a labor law firm for expatriates and foreign-invested companies necessitated that we have accurate translations of the updated labor laws. This we have done in A Bilingual Code of Korean Labor Law (3rd Edition), which you hold in your hands. Besides being translated by a labor attorney with years in the business, this volume has also been proofread by a Canadian editor with experience in Korean Labor Law. It covers 26 labor laws as well as the Constitution of the Republic of Korea and the Civil Law, and it is our intent to publish new editions every year with timely updates in English of changes as we make this volume the must-buy-and-read book for labor law specialists.
It is my desire that A Bilingual Code of Korean Labor Law will be widely and frequently referred to by HR & labor managers, labor attorneys and lawyers, and that this 3rd Edition will be a cornerstone towards building a better labor law code in the future. I would like to commend and express my appreciation to the labor attorneys at KangNam Labor Law Firm for their dedication and effort in editing this bilingual code of labor laws, and to readers who purchased this book with a belief in this law firm.
