Explanation of Visa Issuance for Foreign Nationals: F-2 Resident Visa ==

The F-2 Resident Visa is generally issued under a points-based system. Applicants who obtain at least 80 points out of a total of 120 points may qualify to apply for an F-2 Resident Visa. Among the evaluation criteria, annual income is one of the most significant factors. Other criteria include Korean language proficiency, educational background (including whether the applicant graduated from a university in Korea and whether the applicant holds a degree in science or engineering), and age.

Most holders of E-series visas may be eligible to apply, and E-7 visa holders, in particular, commonly apply for the F-2 visa. Holders of the D-8 Investor Visa may also apply if they meet the applicable requirements.

Once a foreign national obtains an F-2 Resident Visa, the scope of permitted employment and residence activities is significantly expanded, allowing the visa holder to pursue a more stable career and life in Korea.
