Introduction to the Amendments to the Labor Standards Act
The amendments were passed at the plenary session of the National Assembly
on May 7, 2026, and will take effect from May 2027 after a one-year grace
period.
First, an hourly use system for annual paid leave has been introduced
under Article 60 of the Labor Standards Act.
Second, Article 54 of the Labor Standards Act, concerning recess hours,
has been amended. The provision requiring that a 30-minute recess be given
during working hours when the working time is four hours or more may be waived
if there is an explicit request from the employee.
Third, the term “dormitory” has been changed to “residential facility.”
